Deadpool on PS4 is a re-release of the 2013 third-person action game based on the Marvel Comics antihero, developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision. Originally launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, it returned on PS4 in November 2015 with all DLC included, coinciding with the 2016 Deadpool film. The game is a fast-paced, combo-heavy brawler/shooter where you slice and shoot your way through enemies using katanas, guns, and unlockable weapons while chaining together over-the-top attacks. True to the character, Deadpool constantly breaks the fourth wall, talks to the player, interrupts cutscenes, and rewrites his own script, filling the story with crude humor, meta jokes, and self-aware commentary. The plot follows Deadpool teaming up with Marvel characters like Cable and members of the X-Men as he attempts to stop Mister Sinister’s latest scheme, all while trying to make his own game “awesome” and on brand.
